Miracidium
Miracidium
Miracidium is the first larva of schistosomes. Its size is almost
100 microns in length, 50microns in widest diameter.
In its head region, opening of the penetration gland exists.
Penetration gland secretes some proteolytic enzyme which makes
miracidium easy to enter the intermediate host (oncomelania sp.).
You can find its hairy appearance. Miracidium is surrounded by cilia
to swim about water.
